How to Depuff Your Face in the Morning

You wake up in the morning right before work (maybe you’re running your daily 5 minutes behind schedule) and you look in the mirror only to find puffy eyes and cheeks from you smashing your face in the pillow from deep sleep last night. But what you really need right now is a streamlined face ready for work and the day ahead of you. What do you do? We’ve compiled a couple of options to help you out.

First, use ice. Rub the ice under your eyes, cheeks and wherever you are puffy. The coldness causes your blood vessels to constrict which reduces puffiness.

A second option is lymphatic drainage. The reason why your face is puffy in the morning is because your body has been positioned horizontally all night due to sleeping. Consequently, excess fluid is more likely to pool and collect on your face. Once you are standing and sitting upright in the daytime, the puffiness will eventually naturally drain away. However, to speed this process up in the morning, you can gently massage your face outward and downward on your face and neck to direct the excess fluid to your lymphatics, the body system that collects extra fluid.
